March Mary Madness
This is my last weekend before March….and I’m scared. I am not prepared for March. NOT. PREPARED.
To be adequately prepared I’d have gotten all March comics completed by tomorrow. That’s not happening. But at least they’re all written, and at least half are in sketch-to-ink phase, and some are even colored. Did you know that March is 5 weeks this year? MARCH IS 5 WEEKS. Gah. And I’m very busy every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday that occurs in March.
Weekend one! Diplocon. My first convention appearance! The nice folks who are organizing this small college con in Lancaster, PA contacted me in the fall to see if I’d be available to speak. I am! I speak Friday night and have a table in the vendor hall Saturday. So this weekend I’m finalizing my talk and prepping some sketch cards to sell and figuring out The Details. But I’m not stressing it TOO much. This seems like a perfect first con - small and nice. Not a beast like San Diego or New York Comic Cons.
Weekend two! PAX East. Just attending! Never been. John and I will probably stay with his folks in a Boston suburb. I’m excited to check it out. The panels actually look pretty interesting. They aren’t all just companies telling us what they did this year.
Weekend three! My folks are coming up! Since my brother’s started college and my dad is mostly retired now they’ve been making more time to visit. Unfortunately I’m not going to be able to take time off of work, but the cool thing is I work from home, and they can hang out and play with my cats while I work. We did this in the fall and it was actually really nice. We’ll do some sight-seeing on the weekend, but they’ve been here a lot and don’t need or want the whirlwind tour of NYC anymore.
Weekend four! John and I are going to Reykjavik! For fun and adventure! We haven’t traveled for travel’s sake since going to New Zealand in 2008, (I’m not counting Universal Studios - that would be cheating) so this is way overdue. I’m so excited to check out the city and sights around it. That weekend was the best for airfares, and our hotel is a pretty great price too. It’s in the town center and has a full kitchen so we can save on food by getting groceries and cooking. I will upload many pictures.
Ok. I’m taking a deep breath and thinking that I can get done what I need to tonight and tomorrow. I’ll finish comics as I can during weeknights. Everything will be ok. Bring on March Mary Madness! (But don’t forget March Modok Madness.)
